Hattiesburg Selected to Host 2027 DBB Junior Boys World Series

Hattiesburg, Mississippi — Hattiesburg has been selected to host the 2027 DBB Junior Boys World Series following a national selection process, bringing competitive youth baseball teams and their families from across the Southeast to Hattiesburg.

The national tournament will be held at Jaycee Park in July 2027, where teams will compete for the DBB Junior Boys championship. Tournament dates will be announced at a later time.

“Baseball is part of Hattiesburg’s identity, and this selection reflects both the strength of that tradition and the investments we continue to make in facilities for our young athletes,” said Mayor Toby Barker. “We look forward to welcoming players and families from across the Southeast and giving them a World Series experience that reflects the hospitality, energy and community spirit of Hattiesburg.”

World Series games will be played at Jaycee Park, which reopened in 2023 following an extensive renovation funded through Hattiesburg’s 1% sales tax fund. Improvements included synthetic infields, sand-base outfields with an under-drain system, expanded bullpens, covered spectator seating, upgraded concession areas, a new entry plaza and additional paved parking.

The renovated complex has strengthened Hattiesburg’s ability to attract regional and national tournaments while providing a high-quality home for local youth baseball programs.

The tournament is expected to bring players, coaches, families and spectators from 12 states to Hattiesburg, generating economic activity for local hotels, restaurants, retailers and attractions.

“Bringing the DBB Junior Boys World Series back to Hattiesburg in 2027 reflects the momentum we are building as a sports destination,” said Marlo Dorsey, executive director and CEO of VisitHATTIESBURG. “This event will not only generate meaningful economic impact for our hotels, restaurants and local businesses, but it will also help position Hattiesburg for future tournaments, expanded partnerships and continued investment in our sports facilities.”

Additional information about tournament dates, tickets, game times, bracket play, sponsorships, volunteer opportunities and community festivities will be announced as plans are finalized.
