Hattiesburg, Mississippi — On Friday, June 26, the Hattiesburg City Council held a special meeting to review the Fiscal Year 2025 audit by Topp, McWhorter, Harvey, PLLC. The council approved the audit with a unanimous vote.
Highlights from the audit include:
- The City received an unmodified opinion, the best opinion an agency can receive for its audit.
- No new findings were issued for the City.
“Another on-time audit with no new findings shows the City’s continued commitment to accountability, compliance and responsible financial stewardship,” said Mayor Toby Barker. “It reflects the work being done across our organization to manage public funds with care.”\
Barker added, “I appreciate the work of TMH and the dedication of CAO Ann Jones, City Clerk Kermas Eaton, CFO Malcolm Berch, Comptroller Lisa Hanson and accountant Tyler Flores. Preparing for an audit of this scale takes precision, coordination and attention to detail, and their work continues to uphold the City’s standard for financial accountability.”

- Fiscal Year 2016 audit received in July 2018
- Fiscal Year 2017 audit received in November 2018

- Fiscal Year 2019 audit received in June 2020
- Fiscal Year 2020 audit received in May 2021
- Fiscal Year 2021 audit received in June 2022
- Fiscal Year 2022 audit received in June 2023

- Fiscal Year 2024 audit received in June 2025
