Re-test of Sirens Scheduled for May 1 at 9 a.m.

Hattiesburg, Mississippi – To make sure all sirens are working properly after necessary maintenance, Forrest County Emergency Management and the City of Hattiesburg will test the sirens again on Saturday, May 1 at 9 a.m. To monitor the testing process, officials from Forrest County Emergency Management will be on scene at our 911 office and Hattiesburg Fire Department will stage trucks at each of the siren locations to confirm working status.

During the test two weeks ago, a few sirens were not operating at full capacity. After reviewing the testing report, Forrest County Emergency Management and the City of Hattiesburg worked with a technician to bring all sirens to operating standards.

There are six sirens located throughout the city limits of Hattiesburg, with approximately a 3-mile radius for reach. They are located at:

  • East 7th + Main Street
  • William Carey University
  • Hattiesburg + Cox Streets
  • Tatum Park
  • Thames Elementary
  • Classic Drive

An operational technician is on standby should any of the sirens fail to sound.
