Hattiesburg Hosts Annual Student Job Fair

Hattiesburg, Mississippi – On Monday, May 23, the City of Hattiesburg will host its annual job fair for local high school students (16+) at the Ben McNair Community Center (300 North 12th Avenue) from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. High school students will have an opportunity to meet with local employers who have immediate hiring needs for the summer and industries that could spark promising careers.

This initiative first began in 2019 and has continued as an avenue to connect youth to opportunities for the summer and beyond.

“We hope this job fair provides avenues for our youth to make positive and productive use of their summer vacation,” said Mayor Toby Barker. “Summer jobs allow students to learn skills and lessons that can help them throughout life. I hope our local high school students will attend the job fair and take advantage of these opportunities.”

In addition to local businesses, the following departments with the City of Hattiesburg will also be onsite to discuss immediate hiring needs and future career opportunities:

  • City of Hattiesburg Parks & Recreation
  • City of Hattiesburg Public Works
  • Hattiesburg Fire Department
  • Hattiesburg Police Department

Businesses interested in participating can do so at no fee. To reserve a table, businesses should contact Betsy Mercier at 601-545-4501 or bmercier@hattiesburgms.com.
