June 3 – Daily Update

Today’s update includes information about the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (Official)‘s reopening of driver’s license stations across the state, a new testing opportunity, a note about the forecast for Tropical Storm Cristobol and a link to Mayor Barker’s daily briefing.

Driver’s License Stations Reopen
Today – Gov. Reeves announced that on Monday, June 8, the Department of Public Safety will open its permanent driver’s license stations with modifications to ensure social distancing amid COVID-19.

The stations will be open on specific days, directed by the first letter of a person’s last name. Walk-ins are welcome on Wednesdays.

  • Mondays: A-E
  • Tuesdays: F-L
  • Wednesdays: Walk-ins welcome
  • Thursday: M-S
  • Friday: T-Z

Face coverings are encouraged while inside stations.

→ Security Guard Permits (Wednesdays only)
→ Sex Offender Registration
→ Permit tests for students
→ Reinstatements
→ Non-U.S. Citizens
→ Ignition-Interlock Restricted Licenses

License renewals or replacements, ID cards or change of addresses can be done via the website → http://driverservicebureau.dps.ms.gov.

All road tests for non-commercial drivers are waived until further notice to help reduce the risk of transmission. Minors can submit an affidavit completed by parent or guardian certifying 50 hours of supervised driving time, which will be available on the website (https://www.driverservicebureau.dps.ms.gov/).

COVID-19 Testing Opportunity
On Saturday, June 6, the Mississippi State Department of Health and UMC will provide free drive-thru testing in Lumberton.

While free, an appointment must be made through a screening via the cSpire Health App or by 601-496-7200.

Tropical Storm Cristobol
We are watching the forecast for Cristobol closely. The forecast will continue to evolve over the next few days. As landfall data becomes more concrete, we will share that information with you here.
