Position: Office Assistant (Part-time)
Department: Department of Transportation & Engineering
Division: Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)
Rate of Pay: $16.00/hour
Job Summary:
This is secretarial and clerical work that include a wide variety of activities in assisting the manger of the division with the administrative functions of the Hattiesburg-Petal-Forrest-Lamar Metropolitan Planning Organization (HPFL-MPO). Work is under supervision of the MPO Division Manager, but employee should be able to work independently on daily activities with initiative, independent judgment, and discretion. Work involves considerable amount of contact with public officials and private citizens.
Essential Job Functions:
• Preparing and maintaining all files pertaining to the administrative functions of the Hattiesburg-Petal-Forrest-Lamar Metropolitan Planning Organization which includes functions of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
• Coordinate and organize all administrative work necessary to fulfilling the objectives pertaining to the HPFL-MPO.
• Coordinate and organize all administrative duties and objectives pertaining to the administration of the Federal Transit Administration 5307 Grant Guidelines, and other FTA grants as assigned.
• Attend MPO meetings as recording secretary, preparing and indexing minutes.
• Perform of a variety of bookkeeping tasks such as quarterly billing and quarterly reports for MPO and FTA.
• Perform tasks associated with online grants system for FTA Funds, FHWA PL-Funds, and STP Funds for grant-related purposes including data entry, creating reports, exporting information, and general upkeep for grant processing and grantee reporting.
• Other duties as designated by the MPO Division Manager or the Director of Transportation and Engineering.

Qualifications:
• Two-years of college study with courses in business, public administration, or related field and at least one-year related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in responsible secretarial work and office management; professional attitude; ability to accept directions from management.
• Must be computer literate; knowledge of standard office equipment, data processing software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office suite of products, and other specialized and web-based programs.
• Sufficient combinations of education and/or experience will be given consideration.
