Position: Facility Maintenance Worker (Seasonal)
9-Week Position
Department: Parks & Recreation
Division: Grounds

Rate of Pay: $10.00 per hour

Nature of Work:
This is manual outdoor labor performed in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme summer heat. The employee will work as part of a crew maintaining City-owned properties such as parks, cemeteries, landscaped beds, and public rights-of-way. Duties include mowing, weed eating, litter collection, and general beautification efforts.

Employment Term:
Temporary seasonal position lasting approximately 9 weeks. Start and end dates may vary depending on operational needs and weather conditions.

Examples of Work:
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
• Mow grass, edge sidewalks, and remove weeds.
• Operate lawn and landscaping equipment (mowers, weed eaters, blowers, rakes, shovels).
• Maintain city cemeteries, parks, and other public grounds.
• Pick up litter and debris from grounds and right-of-ways.
• Empty trash receptacles and remove waste according to City procedures.
• Follow all safety guidelines to ensure safe work for self, crew, and public.
• Perform work in a professional, responsible, and respectful manner.

Minimum Requirements:
• Must possess and maintain a valid Mississippi Driver’s License.
• Experience with grounds maintenance and use of mowing/lawn care equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions and weather extremes.
• Must be dependable, able to follow directions, and work as part of a team.

Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (subject to change due to weather or City needs)
