Position: Facility Maintenance Repairer (FMR)
Department: Parks & Recreation
Division: Cemetery
Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr.
Nature of Work:
This position involves physically demanding manual labor in an outdoor environment for the majority of the workday. Employees will perform a variety of tasks related to the upkeep of city cemeteries and other properties under Parks & Recreation. Duties include routine and detailed landscape maintenance, equipment servicing, assisting with burials, and supporting emergency or storm response operations as needed. This position works on a rotating weekend schedule and may be subject to on-call duties after hours or during weather-related events.

Examples of Work:
• Perform daily manual labor related to the maintenance and appearance of cemeteries, including mowing, weed-eating, edging, and general groundskeeping.
• Maintain cemetery grounds through routine, detail-oriented landscaping and beautification efforts.
• Operate and maintain a wide range of landscaping equipment including zero-turn mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
• Service and perform light maintenance on equipment to ensure proper function and longevity.
• Assist in grave preparation, including opening and closing graves and post-funeral service maintenance.
• Perform litter pickup, debris removal, and storm cleanup as directed.
• Ensure a safe and organized work environment for crew members and the public at all times.
• Follow all city safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines for equipment use.
• Work rotating weekends and provide on-call support as required.
• Communicate and cooperate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance preferred.
• Must demonstrate physical ability to perform strenuous labor in all weather conditions.
• Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Mississippi Driver’s License.
• Ability to operate landscaping machinery and perform basic equipment upkeep.
