Position: Facility Maintenance Repairer (FMR)

Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr.
Nature of Work:
This is manual skilled labor work. Incumbent will be exposed to various conditions associated with working manually in the outdoors and will be exposed to extreme summer and winter weather conditions.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Participates in the upkeep of facilities and equipment including pavilions, playgrounds, buildings, and other structures; paints buildings, performs preventative maintenance, routine building and plumbing repairs; repairs picnic tables; repairs and maintains playgrounds; cleans and disinfects restrooms.
Participates in the upkeep of athletic fields and courts; grooms and lines fields according to applicable rules; installs and maintains fixtures such as bases, nets, goal posts, baskets, goals, flags; repairs sprinkler heads; uses various equipment and tools such as lawnmower, weed eater, rake, shovels, and other related equipment for use in ballfield care. Participates in landscape maintenance on occasion.
Possess working practical knowledge of the layout and operation of irrigation systems; installs and repairs of irrigation system. Possess knowledge of turf maintenance techniques and participates in the implementation of aeration, topdressing, grading, spraying, overseeing, mowing and other turf management practices.
Operates City-owned vehicles to include trucks, tractor, bobcat, pressure washer, blower, and other specialized vehicles in the daily performance of duties; adheres to all local, state and federal safety regulations.
Picks up trash and debris in buildings and on lawns and grounds; collects and removes recyclables and other items; empties trash containers and receptacles; removes and disposes of trash according to City policy.
Performs preventive and routine maintenance and service on vehicles and equipment; changes oil and filters, replaces parts and makes adjustments as necessary; removes and replaces shafts, blades, and other maintained mower parts; ensures proper working condition of all equipment; completes vehicle and equipment maintenance reports.
Cleans and maintains bathrooms at recreational facilities; cleans toilets, sinks, and other fixtures; mops and wax floors. Cleans and maintains pools and fountains; applies chemicals as directed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 3-4 years previous experience and/or training involving general grounds and building maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Possesses knowledge of spray application and/or ballfield techniques. Must possess and maintain a valid Mississippi driver’s license.
