Position: Assistant Comptroller

Rate of Pay: $55,000 ($26.44/hr.)

Job Summary:
This is a full-time, permanent position in the City’s Accounting Department. Work is performed under the general supervision of a division manager. Work may involve preparing financial reports for annual audits and assisting with reconciliations and other related financial activities.

Examples of Work:
Assist the Comptroller in all aspects and duties of Accounting Department to include but not limited to:
• Working with Tyler MUNIS software Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Journal Entries, Budgets, Financial Reporting, Vendor Maintenance, and familiarity with the Purchasing System.
• Performing complex bank reconciliations, monitoring cash for all City Funds, auditing balance sheet accounts, and preparing spreadsheets and forms for departmental use as related to accounting or grant reporting.
• Working with banks to include online bank account oversight, online transfers, wire transfers, ACH file maintenance, and the addition of new checking accounts.
• Preparing documents for recording direct deposits of State and Federal monies and other miscellaneous electronic payments.
• Assisting with General Ledger master file maintenance including the addition of new line items and funds.
• Utilizing Microsoft Excel in the maintenance and creation of spreadsheets.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis features.
• Familiarity with financial software systems; experience with Tyler MUNIS is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to apply sound accounting judgment, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with accuracy.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited college or university in Accounting or a closely related field.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience (5 years preferred); experience in governmental accounting is preferred but not required.
CPA certification is preferred but not required.
