Position: Facility Maintenance Repairer – Vehicles

Division: Service Center

Rate of Pay: $17.00/hr.

Nature of Work:
This is semi-skilled work in the repair and maintenance of cars, trucks and other vehicles.

Examples of Work:
• Perform major and minor motor repairs and replacement work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles.
• Tune motors using standard testing equipment, clean and replace spark plugs, and install radiator hoses.
• Repair transmission, differentials, front and rear axle assemblies.
• Service vehicles with fuel, oil, air, water and fluids on a rotational basis.
• Respond to vehicle breakdown emergencies to include nights and possible weekends.
• Check alignment of wheels.
• Maintain shop area, facilities, and tools in a clean, safe condition.
• Insure proper disposal of oils, fluids, and tires to meet the requirements of the EPA.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor, thus carrying out all assigned duties efficiently and promptly.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. Satisfactory driving record. Must possess a valid MS driver’s license. Satisfactory prior work record. Minor knowledge and experience to perform gas and diesel engine tune-ups, complete engine overhauls, general mechanics, and other related duties. Must be physically able to lift heavy weights. Must be able to obtain ASE certification in various areas of expertise at a later date.
