Position: Animal Control Officer (Part-time)
Department: Police Department
Division: Animal Control

Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr.

Essential Job Functions:
Drives light-duty truck, answers calls and complaints, testifies in court, prepares reports, maintains accurate case files, issues “Notice of Violation” and “Municipal Offense Tickets” as necessary, confines animals, contacts owners of animals captured and confined. Answers after-hours, weekend, and holiday calls on a rotating basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of city geography.
• Skilled in driving light trucks.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of skills in the capture of animals.
• Ability to analyze situations requiring action.
• Ability to handle situations requiring physical stamina.
• Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
• Ability to pass a fitness exam if necessary.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or G.E.D.; ability to demonstrate proficiency to perform above duties. Must possess and maintain a valid Mississippi Driver’s License.
