The Parks and Recreation Department manages and maintains the public parks, community centers, sports fields, cemeteries and other recreational facilities throughout the City of Hattiesburg. With a mission to enhance the quality of life for Hattiesburg’s citizens by providing recreational activities, beautiful parks, user-friendly facilities and attractive community centers in safe, enjoyable environments.

This department also provides league play and tournaments in several competitive sports such as baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and football – along with a variety of innovative programming for ages 18 – 65.

July 14-19 is Parks and Recreation Week in Hattiesburg, and we’re taking time to celebrate the team that helps make our city a great place to live, work and play. Whether it’s keeping our parks beautiful, planning events, running programs for kids and seniors or maintaining ballfields and walking trails, this department does a little bit of everything to improve life in Hattiesburg. We hope you’ll join us at one of the events this week as we say thank you to the folks behind the scenes who make it all possible.
