Parents & Community Leaders

The Secretary of State will be holding a forum in Hattiesburg next Tuesday, September 1, at 5:30 at the Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center for the public to learn more about Initiatives 42 and 42A, both of which will appear on the ballot this November. We are anxious to have a big crowd at this event to demonstrate this area’s support of public schools and our children. Those who would like to speak about either Initiative must sign in by 5:00; speakers will be allotted 5 minutes each. All comments will be transcribed and posted on the Secretary of State’s website.

I hope you will encourage our district parents, and concerned citizens to attend this important exercise in democracy. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about how we might, at last, fully fund our public schools. Here’s the link for more information: http://www.sos.ms.gov/Elections-Voting/Pages/2015-Initiative-Public-Hearings.aspx. I hope to see you at the forum next Thursday evening. Info cards, bumper stickers, and yard signs will be available from the staff of 42 for Better Schools.

Jarrius Adams from Hattiesburg High will be speaking! Let’s get out and support this event!!!!
