City of Hattiesburg Hosts 9/11 Ceremony

Hattiesburg, Mississippi – On Friday, September 11, the City of Hattiesburg joined the Hattiesburg Fire Department and the Hattiesburg Police Department to host its annual 9/11 Ceremony.

Special guests included Major General (Retired) Larry Harrington, who delivered the keynote address, and John Eze Uzodinma II, Southern Miss alum who played the national anthem by violin. The ceremony also included remarks by Mayor Toby Barker, Fire Chief Sherrocko Stewart and Police Chief Anthony Parker.

The morning closed with ceremonial elements (21-Gun Salute, “Taps” and the laying of a wreath) to honor all lives lost in the attacks at the World Trade Center site, the Pentagon and aboard Flight 93 in 2001.
