The City of Hattiesburg plays a role in both The Pine Belt Coalition on Homelessness and The Hub City Homeless Outreach Team. Both of these organizations provide services and resources to those facing homelessness. See the information below for more about each.
The Pine Belt Coalition on Homelessness
The Pine Belt Coalition on Homelessness consists of social service agencies that are currently serving the homeless and low-income families, faith-based entities, and concerned citizens that are concerned about addressing homelessness in our community. The participants in the coalition work together to provide housing services and other resources needed in order for persons to reach stability. Each entity brings something different and needed to the table.
The Hub City Homeless Outreach Team
The Hub City Homeless Outreach Team is a street outreach team that is out weekly in the community to meet people where they are, build relationships with them, assess their needs and help connect them to the resources needed. The team serves as the mobile entry into the Homeless Management Information System, a database that is shared among agencies that serve the homeless. If someone is seeking housing services, they must have an assessment done first, which the team can do on-site.
The Hub City Homeless Outreach Team is comprised of partners from the Pine Belt Coalition on Homelessness, specifically the SSVF program through Pine Belt Mental Health, that serves homeless Veterans, the Salvation Army, MUTEH, Edwards St. Fellowship, United Way and dedicated volunteers from the community.
The City’s goal is to ensure that homeless and impoverished members of our community receive structured, goal-oriented assistance. The intent is to ensure that those in need have the resources to lift themselves to a safe, stable environment without enabling those for whom addiction, crime, and vagrancy are a continuing choice.
In coordination with the Hub City Outreach Team and the Pine Belt Coalition for Homelessness, several resources have been aggregated for use – should you come into contact with someone experiencing homelessness. This resource guide provides referral information for crisis lines, food programs, homeless shelters, medical services and more.

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits. It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory. 25 years ago, Saddleback Church launched Celebrate Recovery with 43 people. Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, if you are in immediate danger then you should call 911 right away.
Clients can also seek support with getting connected to domestic violence services by calling the MS Coalition Against Domestic Violence at 1-800-898-3234 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).
Domestic violence can take many forms and it involves behavior that is used to establish power and control over another person. This is often done through fear and intimidation over a period of time, using threats and verbal, emotional, or physical abuse. Domestic violence can happen to anyone and everyone deserves to feel safe and respected.
