This book contains “stories and records from the greatest teams\, coaches and players – who lived and played in the greatest football state.” Hattiesburg native and Southern Miss graduate Rick Cleveland is the most accomplished Mississippi sports journalist ever. Besides being Mississippi Sportswriter of the Year a record 14 times\, he has received the prestigious Richard Wright Award for Literary Excellence in 2011\, received the Distinguished Mississippian Award from the Mississippi Press Association in 2000 and was inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame (2016) and the Hattiesburg Hall of Fame (2018). Cleveland has authored five books. He currently works as a columnist at Mississippi Today. Neil White operates a small publishing company\, writes essays and teaches memoir writing. In 2010 the Southern Library Association selected him as Outstanding Author of the Year. He has written\, edited or published over fifty books. \n
