After touring the exhibition\, guests will have an opportunity to create a food inspired art piece. \n

DESCRIPTION:\nWhat: Hattiesburg National Poetry Month Celebration and Young Poets Awards\nWho: All community members are invited to come celebrate Hattiesburg young authors. Students\, teachers\, and families who participated in Hattiesburg Poet Laureate’s Writing Sky Words workshop series during the 2025-26 school year are especially encouraged to attend.\nWhen: Saturday\, April 25\, 1-3 pm\nWhere: Rebekah Stark Johnson Community Arts Center\, 825 Main St\, Hattiesburg\, MS 39401\nFree admission. All are invited to join for an afternoon celebrating young poets and artists in Hattiesburg. Beginning at 1 pm we’ll have creative games and activities\, snacks\, and an opportunity to view award-winning poetry by young writers from across our city. At 2 pm we will hold a poetry reading and awards ceremony to recognize outstanding writers from each school. We will also name one grand prize winner to receive a scholarship to the Young Authors Academy\, summer 2026. Poetry contest winners and honorable mentions will be invited to the stage to read the creative pieces they wrote in response to Hattiesburg’s public art.\n\n
