HPD attends 2016 Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement

Chief Anthony Parker, Major Billy Lane and Accreditation Specialist Tonya Hooker went to St Louis MO where they went before the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement on April 2, 2016.  The Hattiesburg Police Department has once again been reviewed by the commission that determined the agency was in compliance with the commissions 484  standards for Law Enforcement.  The department received it’s award Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the commission’s final business meeting and awards banquet. Adhering to the standards adopted by the commission is a voluntary commitment by the department to demonstrate its intentions and commitment to the citizens of Hattiesburg.  The Hattiesburg Police Department was the first Agency in the State of Mississippi to receive this award with its initial accreditation in 1998.  The department has been re-assessed every three years and this marks the department’s seventh accreditation award representing approximately 18 years of validated compliance. In addition to International recognition for compliance with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, the department is also accredited by the State of Mississippi’s  Accreditation Commission receiving it initial state accreditation  on April 5, 2006, maintaining its status continually and receiving its latest award from the State Accreditation Commission on February 17, 2016.
