Historic Preservation Week 2018

During the week of May 21 – May 25, the City of Hattiesburg will celebrate “Historic Preservation Week” through a variety of events and activities established to promote the importance of historic preservation.
 
 These events are free and open to the public, but registration will help coordinators prepare:
Monday, May 21, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
“In a Fix” Historic Homeowner Workshop
Walthall Room, 601 Court Street
Tuesday, May 22, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Walking Tour Showcase of new and recent developments in Downtown Hattiesburg.
Cultural Center, 723 Main Street
 
Wednesday, May 23, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
“Preservation is Really about the Future”
Henington House, 601 Walnut Street
Includes a tour of the historic 1905 Henington House & Gardens*
 
Thursday, May 24, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.
“Jane’s Walk” – guided community walk through the Parkhaven Historic District
Begins at T-Bones, 2101 Hardy Street
 
Friday, May 25 – All Day
This Place Matters Photo Drive
Take a photo in front of your favorite Hattiesburg Building and use the hashtags #ThisPlaceMatters and #HistoricHattiesburg. “This Place Matters” hand-held signs are available at City Hall on a first-come-first-served basis by calling 601-554-1031.
