Health Help Mississippi partners with Forrest General Hospital to host Stakeholder Meeting

HATTIESBURG, Mississippi- This week, Representatives from the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Enroll America and Centers for Medicaid are visiting Mississippi to discuss plans and ideas for the final weeks of open enrollment. They will participate in planning meetings with community and faith leaders across Mississippi from January 26-29.

Forrest General Hospital and Health Help Mississippi partnered to host the meeting in Hattiesburg. The meeting took place Tuesday at 4pm at Forrest General Hospital and allowed policy makers, universities, hospitals, health centers and community based organizations the opportunity to collaborate and maximize their efforts in getting Mississippians enrolled.

“It is important that, during the final weeks of Open Enrollment, Mississippians take advantage of the resources available to help them complete the enrollment process,” said Kristina Cole, Health Help Hattiesburg’s Regional Program Manager.  We want Hattiesburg area residents to know that Health Help MS and Forrest General Hospital have counselors and advocates available to provide this assistance and help answer questions.”

Over 81,000 Mississippians have already enrolled in coverage through a Marketplace health plan, but there are thousands more who are eligible for insurance and tax credits. Approximately 95 percent of Mississippians who have enrolled in coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace have received financial assistance.
