Upon taking the stage after being sworn in Thursday as Hattiesburg’s 35th mayor, Toby Barker asked Hub City residents to come together — with public officials and each other — to help move the city into the future.
“I will ask for you to be up and doing,” Barker told the crowd at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg. “Not one person, nor one group, can facilitate change by itself. Hattiesburg needs not only your words — it needs your hands, your creativity, your influence, your resources and your time.”
