Hattiesburg Students Receive Tuition Assistance from City & County

Hattiesburg, Mississippi – On Monday, November 12, officials from the City of Hattiesburg and Forrest County were joined by Pearl River Community College at Hattiesburg High School to announce a new tuition assistance program to all Hattiesburg students.

The Hattiesburg City Council approved $20,000 toward a partnership agreement with Forrest County Board of Supervisors as a memorandum of understanding between the two government entities and Pearl River Community College. This partnership will also take care of any tuition gap if a student has received any type of financial aid or scholarship money.

Mayor Toby Barker told students during an assembly presentation, “If you decide to attend Pearl River Community College after you graduate, you can go there and you can go tuition-free.” He later added that this program is not just for students from Hattiesburg High School – it’s for any student who resides in the city or the county.
