City Announces Two Personnel Changes in Urban Development

Hattiesburg, Mississippi – The City of Hattiesburg announces two personnel changes in Urban Development with Tonya Jordan as its newest neighborhood coordinator and the addition of public engagement coordinator to Stephanie Hall Campos’ current duties as office manager.

“Our department has a lot of moving pieces and parts. Both Tonya and Stephanie (since day one) have embodied the vision of being rapidly responsive,” said Andrew Ellard, director of Urban Development. “I look forward to seeing both of them in these roles, continuing to provide excellent customer service to all of our citizens.”

Jordan comes to this position with three and a half years of service as a city employee in the capacity of permit technician in the Building Division of Urban Development. She is filling the vacancy left by Maxine Coleman, who served as the neighborhood coordinator for 11.5 years before retiring. In this role, Jordan will work diligently to engage neighborhood organizations, community groups and other local agencies with planning and community development projects throughout the City of Hattiesburg.

Campos began her career with the City in January of 2018 and provides administrative support to both the director and division managers within Urban Development. In a dual role as office manager and public engagement coordinator, she will work to push the department beyond the standard, required public hearings in various programs to promote more creative and meaningful input opportunities for citizens.

“Tonya epitomizes what we want from our city employees – excitement for the job and vision for what the City of Hattiesburg can be. Additionally, Stephanie is one of our most thorough and hard-working team members,” said Mayor Toby Barker. “Both of them motivate others and they consistently go the extra mile, which is exactly what we need to take our city to the next level.”

Both of these personnel changes are effective immediately.
