Application Process Working for City of Hattiesburg

Thank you for your interest in employment with the City of Hattiesburg. There are several ways to apply for an open, posted position:

Apply in Person

Apply in person at the Human Resources Department, 3rd floor City Hall, 200 Forrest Street, downtown Hattiesburg, directly across from the Saenger Theater. All available jobs are posted for review

Click on the Apply Online link located in the left blue tab.

Application Review

The department with the position you applied for will review ALL applications submitted. If you are going to be selected for an interview the department will contact you usually with a week or so after the position is closed.

Applying for More than One Position

You may apply for more than one position even if at different departments To do so click on the “Add” button under the position on the application. Your application will go to all of the departments you applied for.

Your Application is Only Submitted for the Open Position(s) You Selected on Your Application

If you are not selected for the position(s) you applied for when you submitted your application, you may continue to apply for other open positions by putting in a new application. Applications are ONLY kept on file until the position(s) you applied for closes and is filled.

Applications for Police Officer or Fire Fighter

Applications for the above are only accepted during an active recruitment process. Notice will be placed on this website when they are being accepted. Once a recruitment period begins, all applicants must apply in person at the Human Resources Department. Out of the area candidates may contact the Training Academy at 601-545-4650 for additional information and/or application.

Skills Assessment Testing

Skills Assessment Testing will be administered to applicants considered for employment in positions which involve clerical skills and abilities.
