The Fleet section of maintenance is responsible for the daily maintenance of all vehicles maintained by the Hattiesburg Police Department. These vehicles include marked police cars, motorcycles, the HPD Mobile Command Post, and an assortment of unmarked vehicles used by department employees. Most maintenance is performed at the newly operational Fleet Maintenance Facility which was constructed to reduce repair costs, expedite repairs and minimize “down time” of emergency vehicles.
The upkeep and repair of the building is fulfilled by a small crew at the Hattiesburg Police Department. The staff is responsible for maintaining the main structure of the police department, as well as several outlying buildings such as the Hattiesburg Police and Fire Training Academy, Hattiesburg Police Firing Range and several HPD Substations located throughout the city. Additionally, maintenance includes the daily cleaning of all buildings and repairs of plumbing, electrical and structural systems that keep the police department operational for the citizens of Hattiesburg.
