Councilwoman Mary Dryden
Mary Currie Dryden, a fourth-generation native of Hattiesburg, is beginning her first term as the City Council representative of Ward Four, which includes central Hattiesburg and most of the historic district of the City. She is a licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist and has been in private practice since 2000.
Councilwoman Dryden holds a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a master of science degree in counseling psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as special certification in gifted education from William Carey University. She was Volunteer of the Year for the Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association in 2012 and currently serves on the Board as Vice President. She has served also in multiple leadership positions at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church and as a volunteer for a number of civic organizations. She is a member of the South MS Art Association and Phi Mu Alumni Association.
She and her husband, Steve, are lifetime members of the USM Alumni Association and active members of the Eagle Club and Dugout Club. They have two children, Jamie (Jennifer) and Christy (Joseph Tatum), and four grandchildren, Sara Foster, Jack, Britton and Cora.
