Rate of Pay: $7.25/hr
Nature of Work: This is specialized work that involves assisting with teaching and administering recreation programs. Employee works independently as well as assists in the development of programs and the overseeing of the facilities.
Examples of Work: Oversees the activities and use of public recreation facilities. Observes necessary precautions to insure safety of participants. Writes accident and incident reports. Performs other duties as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications: Experienced in a skill area in which instructions is to be given. Other combinations of education and experience that meets the minimum requirements may be substituted. Position requires knowledge of methods and principles in instruction of groups in arts, crafts, games, etc.; ability to communicate orally in the English language in a one-on-one or group setting; ability to handle minor disciplinary problems; ability to stimulate and maintain individuals interest in recreation activities; ability to work with city staff and groups of all ages and various ethnic backgrounds; produce written documents in the English language; work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others; work flexible hours; must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Must be age 16 or older.
