Hattiesburg’s National Night Out projects have received National Award Recognition in Category 3 (population 50,000 to 99,999) over the last several years, last year’s project received the highest ranking, which was 11th in this category.
What Mayor Johnny L. DuPree says about NNO:
The City of Hattiesburg has remained committed to the National Association of Town Watch’s (NATW) level of dedication to the development and promotion of organized law enforcement affiliated crime and drug prevention programs across the nation.
The National Night Out (NNO) campaign has proven to be a very successful program in promoting neighborhood spirit and creating a partnership between our police and community. Local residents responded in great numbers as they bonded with their neighbors, the law enforcement community, the faith-based community, businesses, local officials and others to celebrate our efforts to make their communities safer.
