The Communications Center is under the leadership of Gary Hudson and is responsible for handling approximately 400,000 requests for service, annually, from the public. Known as "dispatchers," telecommunicators tell officers when and where to respond to calls and provide information and support services as requested through such means as radio, telephone and computer. Communications personnel are also the primary public safety answering point for all 911 calls within the city.
