Major of Operations Bureau

 

 

Major Hardy Sims, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, began his law enforcement career in 1992 as a police officer with the Hattiesburg Police Department. Within the department, he served as a: patrolman, member of the Neighborhood Enhancement Team (N.E.T.), criminal investigator, D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T. Instructor, Ropes Course Instructor, Public Information Officer and Community Relations Officer.  His leadership is shown by the numerous, distinguished supervisory areas in which he has served: Sergeant (Patrol), Lieutenant (Community Relations), Captain (Patrol) and currently, Major (Operations Bureau). 

 

Having attended various law enforcement schools, trainings and seminars, Major Sims, who is also a former Hostage Negotiator and the current Commander of the Special Tactics and Rescue (S.T.A.R.) Team, is most proud of his achievement in the completion of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) National Academy.

 

Major Sims’ Operations Bureau, which includes: patrol, detectives, special operations, S.T.A.R. Team and the 12th Judicial District Narcotics Enforcement Team, represents the basic policing function of the Hattiesburg Police Department.  The role of this bureau is to provide professional law enforcement services to our community.
