Councilman Henry E. Naylor

Henry E. Naylor represents Ward Five, which comprises the southern part of Hattiesburg, including Vernon Dahmer Park, the Irene’s Chapel Community, Palmer’s Crossing, Timberton, William Carey University and the Industrial Park. Councilman Naylor, who is beginning his third term on the City Council, is the president of UpFront Communications, a business specializing in advertising and public relations.

He is the current President of the Mississippi Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (MBC-LEO), the largest constituency group of the Mississippi Municipal League, and is an active member of numerous civic organizations and boards. Councilman Naylor has served as a recruiter/counselor for the Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District and as a community development staff specialist with the City of Hattiesburg’s Planning and Development Department. He also worked as Mississippi’s Coordinating Campaign Manager for Vice President Al Gore and for 2000 Presidential candidate Joe Liebermann.

Councilman Naylor holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He and his wife, Dr. Wanda Hodges Naylor, have two children, Earl and Kelly, and one grandchild, Harmonie. They are members of Antioch Baptist Church.
