The Great American Cleanup and Earth Day Kick-Off Event
Date: Wednesday, April 20, 2011
Time: 10:00 am until Noon
Location: Town Square Park
Media and residents are invited to join Mayor Johnny L. DuPree as he kicks off Earth Day and the Great American Cleanup events in Town Square Park. The day will start with remarks from Mayor DuPree and a proclamation will be presented to the Hattiesburg Parks and Recreation Department for their efforts in hosting this event.
Around 200 students from Rowan and Woodley Elementary Schools will be participating in this year’s Earth Day Event. Following the program, the children will rotate through ten stations, each presenting a different environmental topic. The stations range from topics related to storm water pollution, litter awareness, energy conservation, water conservation, recycling, biking, animals, beautification, and urban forestry. This portion of the day will be moderated by Catherine Lott of the ADP.
