2013 National Night Out Against CrimePress Release Coming Soon: 2013 National Night Out Against Crime Hattiesburg- Preparations for the City of Hattiesburg's 2013 National Night Out Against Crime event are underway. This year's theme: Hattiesburg: Encouraging and Supporting Our Youth – Today’s Learners...Tomorrow’s Leaders (HPSDTM). Three students from the Hattiesburg Public School District will be honored during the National Night Out (NNO) celebration. Become A Sponsor The kick-off will be held Thursday, Aug. 1 at 5:30 p.m., with a rally on the steps of City Hall followed by a march to Town Square Park. There, participants will enjoy an evening of doorbusters, Contests, great food, educational exhibitors, health screenings, plus opportunities to learn more about National Night Out (NNO) -a nationwide crime, drug and violence prevention program. Hattiesburg-City of Hattiesburg residents impacted by the February 10 tornado have an extra two weeks to get debris to the city’s right of ways for collection.
Federal Disaster Aid: How to ApplyPress Release Hattiesburg-Forrest and Lamar counties have been declared Federal Disaster Areas due to the severe storms and tornadoes which moved through those counties on February 10. Approved in this disaster declaration are: Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment Teams made up of MEMA, FEMA, U.S. Small Business Administration and local officials are surveying additional damages in other counties to be considered for additional federal disaster assistance. Anyone with damages in these counties may apply by going to www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The speech or hearing impaired may call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. Whether applying online at www.disasterassistance.gov from your computer or smartphone, or over the phone through a FEMA call center, you should have a pen and paper and the following information: • Your Social Security number After you've completed your application for assistance, you will receive a FEMA application number.
